Still Waiting — Women & Healthcare
Research-Driven Awareness Campaign

Course Project — Gender & Design (ARTD 405)

Still Waiting is a visual awareness campaign exposing how gender bias in medicine leaves women unheard under researched and untreated. Medical research funding diagnostic standards and treatment protocols were built around male bodies creating systemic gaps that delay care minimize pain and lead to misdiagnosis. This campaign reframes waiting as a structural condition rather than an individual experience.

Core Concept

The campaign is organized around a single organizing system a continuous red line. The line represents the unbroken path women are forced to walk to be believed diagnosed and treated. It functions as both metaphor and navigation connecting data lived experience and consequence across physical and digital space.

Creative Executions and Outreach

Environmental Installation
A red line runs through public sidewalks guiding viewers through a sequence of ground decals. Each decal interrupts daily movement with short statements drawn from research and real patient language. The copy escalates from systemic bias to lived impact creating a physical journey that mirrors the prolonged and often dismissive process many women experience when seeking care.

The installation is framed by two murals. The opening mural establishes the systemic context calling out a healthcare system built on men and labeled universal. The closing mural confronts the cumulative cost of dismissal misdiagnosis and delay ending the journey with a direct call to action.

Large scale typographic posters extend the campaign beyond the installation into transit and public spaces. Using minimal layouts hard data and direct language the posters treat typography as evidence exposing what happens when women are not properly studied believed or treated. These executions amplify the message and ensure the campaign exists beyond a single location.

Story Archive Blog Website

A digital story archive extends the campaign by shifting from data about women to data from women. The site provides a safe anonymous space to submit healthcare experiences read others stories and access contextual data and resources. Individual stories accumulate into collective evidence transforming personal testimony into visibility accountability and action.

Strategy and Design Rationale

Storytelling functions as data throughout the campaign. Research statistics and lived experience are presented together turning personal narratives into proof rather than decoration. Typography is treated as evidence and the red line structures pacing attention and emotional buildup.

Rather than delivering a single message the campaign builds a collective narrative across space. Each execution contributes to the same system moving audiences from awareness to participation and making inequity visible unavoidable and shared.

AT&T — "Connection Changes Everything" Creative Executions

NSAC 2025 Campaign

Awards: 2nd Place Regional | Best Creative | Best Presentation

Role: Creative team member

Developed as part of the school year-long National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), this campaign challenged our team to create a fully integrated marketing plan for AT&T. Our concept, “Look Up: Connection Is Everything,” encouraged Gen Z to rediscover real connection beyond their screens, aligning with AT&T’s mission to bring people closer together. Our single minded proposition: what's beyond the screen.

As part of the Creative Team, I helped brainstorm, design, and execute campaign concepts across digital, experiential, and out-of-home activations. I also contributed to early research and strategy discussions, translating insights about Gen Z’s relationship with technology into visual and conceptual ideas for our creative executions.

Our creative executions included experiential, out-of-home, and partnership elements. Our team placed 2nd in the Regional Competition and earned Best Creative and Best Presentation awards, recognizing our cohesive campaign strategy and emotional storytelling.
